location: Idukki |
Being an ardent movie fan, I
wanted to spend my honeymoon in the famous movie locations in Kerala. Visiting
Kerala was always like returning to my home. The people are so welcoming and
they treat you like one among them. Without any second thoughts, we decided to
take up the exclusive Kerala tour packages which took us to the exotic locations where the most memorable
movies were shot. The list and the route-map were ready for our tour. We packed
our bags, camera and suitable clothes for the season and were ready to step
into the beautiful land of greenery. Since it was the Onam time, the best
season to visit Kerala, we were all excited to visit the place.

Again in Idukki |
To choose our destinations we had
chosen exclusively locations where some of our favorite movies were shot. Most
of them were a popular destination in Kerala tourism packages. We landed
at Cochin airport, one of the famous spots for movies itself. Most of the
flight departure and arrival scenes in the majority of the films were shot
here. We walked out like celebrities and felt happy with the realization of
being able to see the first spot in the list. Meanwhile, our guide was waiting
for us holding our names on the pluck card. The guy greeted us with a smile and
even gave best wishes for us on our marriage. The best thing about being in
Kerala is the hospitality is remarkable.

Famous shooting location in Chendamangalam |
As per our Kerala packages, we were moving to visit the place called Chendamangalam where movies like Oru Pattnathil
Bhoodam, Nandanam, Ividam Swargamanu etc. were shot. The place was a
uniquely beautiful village. It was hardly half an hour from the airport, so we
didn’t feel like we were traveling too much. Visiting the beautiful village
bounded by many lakes was immensely refreshing. We took a boat ride in Gothuruth
and upon returning, we checking into a resort near Moothakunnam. The resort too
was a romantic space for us where we had a loving experience.

So special |
The next day we set out to the city of Ernakulam
early morning via the beach road where we spotted many beaches, small houses,
and even resorts that were neighboring the Cherai beach. The beaches were deserted
as it was early morning. The only thing we spotted is many villagers engaged in
their daily chores. We had a great south Indian breakfast and visited the
Marine drive. Even the mornings were pleasant for a walk on this well-kept
area. The Marine drive is a popular spot in the city, it’s like a landmark. The
hanging bridge was a location for many Dileep-starrer movies. Standing on the
bridge, one could get a glimpse of the ships embarked little far away near the
harbors. Many tourists like us who were on Kerala holiday packages were the most among the crowd other than some college
going kids who bunked their classes to enjoy, which reminded us of our good old
days as youngsters.

Bolgatty palace |
Fort
Kochi,
one among the top locations in Kerala tour packages from Mumbai, a vibrant city with colorful walls painted with
graffiti images and the architecture that was unique from the other parts of
the city was our next destination. The place was immensely beautiful and we
enjoyed some special shopping of antiques from the shops there. We spotted many
Anglo-Indians and many foreigners who were settled there. The Jewish synagogues
too were interesting. Many new generation movies were shot in this location.
The place was splendid. After the
wonderful city tour, we returned to our resort and visited the Bolgatty Palace
on the way back. The Bolgatty Palace
was a beautiful Island connected by the Goshree Bridge to the Cochin city. The
Palace is a famous shooting location to many movies. The grand and ethnic
building looked marvelous. We took some snaps on the lake side’s and the giant
shady trees where romantic songs were shot. Indeed, it brought out some
romantic memories of our days before marriage.

A scene from the Film Raavan-Athirapilly |
The next day we set to visit the Athirapilly waterfalls, an enchanting
location for many movies. The movies Anadabhadram, Raavan, Guru, and Bahubali
etc. were shot in this exotic location. As soon as we reached the place, it was
full of tourists on Kerala tour packages from Delhi. The waterfall was a
magnificent beauty with the backdrop of the lush green forests. A truly idyllic
place for any romantic movie to be shot! The misty layer formed by the
waterfall added an indescribable beauty to the place. Like many other tourists,
we too took some snaps which our tour guide patiently took for us. Cochin was
indeed a popular place for many filmmakers since we visited more places which
were the famous locations of movies.

Me in Hill palace |
The hill palace in Tripunithura was indeed a marvelous palace. The
palace was where the famous Malayalam movie Manichirthrathazhu was shot. I remember watching this movie being a
child at least a hundred times.

Scene from Amen pictured in Alappuzha |
Moving away from Cochin, we went
to Alappuzha, the land of canals and
houseboats. The magical backwaters were always popular among the movie buffs.
The houseboats and the nearby villages had a magical beauty that many movies
were shot here. The famous ones like Amen, Venicile Vyapari, Tashan in Hindi,
Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya (Tamil) and many such movies were shot here. These
places were indeed the best and hence, visiting them in our Kerala trip was
indeed a better thought. We happened to
get a chance to see the snake boat races that is famous in Alappuzha when we
visited. The long boats and the strong men rowing them was a marvelous scene to
watch for.

Location: Kozhikode Beach Film: Usthad Hotel |
Being a fan of the movie Ustad
hotel, and having watched it at least 10-15 times even remembering the
punch dialogs of the movie, we wanted to visit the land of Kozhikode. The
beaches and the Malabari biriyani were awesome. Our guide in Kerala tour was
kind enough to take us to places where each movie scenes were shot. I wondered
if he was a movie fan too because the guy was too accurate about the scenes.
The stay in Kozhikode overlooking the beach was perfect for us. In the evening,
we even went for a stroll on the beach, where we had some peanuts to munch on
as we walked in the sandy beaches. We had some popsicles to quench the thirst.
It was indeed a pleasant time we spent on our Kerala tours.

Thattathin Marayathu film location in Thalassery |
My husband was a Nivin Pauly-fan,
so we wanted to visit Thalasseri, where the famous movies like Malarvadi
Arts Club, Thattathin Marayathu etc. were shot. The guide in our Kerala
travel took us to the busy city and showed us the places where the movie was
shot. Even we posed for the epic shot where the romance blooms in Thattathin
Marayathu near the seaside. With our exclusive Kerala honeymoon packages, we got to
visit many enchanting locations of Kerala which were popular as movie
locations. Any ardent movie fans would love to visit these places.
Idukki, the honeymooner’s
paradise as our guide explained us, was a mind-blowing beauty. The winding hill
roads to the beautiful place were the best attraction. As we were moving up the
hills, we spotted the tea-pluckers who were busy in their job. We stopped by to
take a look at the vast land of tea gardens. For a lovely picture, we requested
one of the laborers to hand me a basket of tea and posed a natural photo with
it, as if I was plucking some tea. Idukki Gold, Maheshinte Prathikaram
etc. were shot in this unending beauty. We enjoyed the stroll around the giant
Idukki Dam, where the climax of the movie was shot. It is best to take up the exclusive
honeymoon packages in Kerala to visit these nature’s gifts. The
Idukki song from the movie Maheshnte Prathikaram was indeed the best of all the
songs that captured the beauty of the place. If you watch the song, you will
fall in love with the place!
Gavi, another halting
place in our list of holiday spots, on our honeymoon packages, was the place where the movie Ordinary was shot. The
place was awesome! We had a good time taking a walk in the calm and serene
villages. The home stay was the best. The villagers were friendly and helping.
The food was delicious and we tasted some dishes that were not easily available
in big restaurants.
The romantic escapade visiting
all these special locations with Kerala tour packages with a price that
was affordable made our holiday special. The tour proved to be the best in our
lifetime. Visiting my ancestral place and moreover, the picturesque spots for
our honeymoon were the best gala time we had. There were many more locations on
our bucket list, which we decided to visit when we would come again for an
adventurous tour later. Kerala is the gifted land, after a reunion with my
ancestral home after years, we returned to our busy life treasuring the
memorable trip we had in Kerala.
